Summary:

Personally I will never understand why the Raleigh Chopper with its lurid orange paintwork, stick shift, high back seat and suicidal handling is not still in production. Why anyone would want a safe, modern, well designed bike for their kids I just don´t know – and they even wear bike helmets too, they´ll be banning conkers next…

Elswick Trailbreaker Dual Suspension Boys Mountain Bike - 24 Inch wheels, shimano gears

The popularity of the BMX bike can be traced back to the early 1970s when children began racing their bicycles on dirt tracks in California, having been inspired by the motocross superstars of the era. Since then they have become a firm favourite because of their go anywhere capabilities, chunky looks and durability.

So what is available for the 21st Century mini BMXer? Well, the Elswick Trailbreaker Dual Suspension Boys Mountain Bike. Suitable for boys aged nine to eleven years of age with inside leg of 60-70cm, this bike features a hi-tensile steel dual suspension frame and 24inch wheels with lightweight alloy rims and fitted with sure grip mountain bike tyres.

The Elswick Trailbreaker also features front suspension forks, V type brakes and 18 speed Shimano gears with twist grip fast action gear controls. A padded saddle completes the picture. Be aware that some assembly is required – fitting the front wheel, adjusting the brakes, fitting the pedals, saddle and handlebars and checking the gear setting – nothing too taxing.
